Who's up for some sprouting?

​For anyone who doesn’t know what sprouting is, it’s a process of soaking and draining seed, beans and nuts to allow them to sprout.
 
I have sprouted for years and years but for some reason I hadn’t done it for a while, that is until I was diagnosed with stage 4 Cancer.   Then I started sprouting again, for a while I used packets of sprouted seeds when I didn’t have the energy to do it myself (more mental energy if I’m honest)
 
So why am I sprouting again?  Simply my Cancer reminded me of how beneficial sprouting is for my health.
 
Sprouting has the following benefits:
  • It’s a live food – this mean it is full of vitality
  • Digestive enzymes – my treatments can have a serious impact on the digestion, the sprouting helps to support my  digestion with live digestive enzymes
  • Packed with goodness – sprouting is thought of as a superfood and for good reason
  • Sprouting increases certain nutrients – once sprouted they are higher in

So now you can see all the amazing benefits, how do you sprout seeds, beans and nuts?
It’s very simple, there are many charts on google that will show you how long and how to soak the seeds, beans and nuts.  I will have a chart on my Blog to help with this. 
 
Simply put, you put a handful of your chosen seeds, beans or nuts into a jar/sprouting jar.  Add water and drain, then fill the jar with water again, leave this for 12 hours on the worksurface.  The next day either strain through muslin cloth or the sprouting jar (available in your local health shop). It is best to leave the jar draining at an angle to allow air to circulate.  You rinse and drain 2x a day till they sprout, keep going till the sprouts are the length you like then put them in a jar with a lid.
