sometimes we need a little reminder to be kind to ourselves.
As a therapist, my focus is often more on my clients health and sometimes I forget to look after my own. We can push ourselves to limits trying to look after others. This week I had a reminder of this. The dreaded flu struck and it hit hard! I had to sit back. I was ironically reminded of what I say to my gorgeous clients on a regular basis. 1. When your body is trying to tell you something, listen! 2. Don't fight an illness, give your body the time and tools to heal itself 3. Be kind to yourself 4. Rest 5. Ask what can I learn from this 6. Get lots of juices in 7. Did I say REST? 8. Don't try to rush back in, let the body heal 9. Ask what have I been over doing. I have to say it was a reminder for me that I can do anything I set my mind to, the same as everyone can, but that does not mean I should do everything. So the next time you get sick, don't rush to take something so you can carry on regardless. Learn from it, rest and nurture your body and soul. Use it as a time of reflection. The world doesn't fall apart when you look after yourself, but more importantly it just makes you stronger, more capable to do what you need to do and more often than not with a bit more clarity. So be good to yourself!!
