When I talk to people about cupping many think it’s just for athletes, or that it is going to be really painful (the opposite, most of my clients fall asleep as the tension melts away), or simply they don’t know what it is. So what is cupping? It’s a Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy, used to help improve blood flow, release fascia, release tense muscle, improve muscle recovery, release stagnation and move blocked energy. It is also part of Native American traditional therapies and was used by Celtic Druids as part of their healing methods. Simply put it’s not the latest fad, it’s a healing practice used for thousands of years. I use fire cupping methods, where I place glass cups, using a flame to remove the oxygen from the cups which then forms a suction, this cup is then placed on the body where the issue originates, helping to release the tension and improve blood flow and therefore allowing the healing process to begin. Cupping has become one of my top five favourite therapies for so many reasons! I use cupping with a variety of clients for a variety of reasons and the results are amazing.
