I’m nutty about Nigella! No not Nigella Lawson, although I do like her recipes, The Nigella I’m nuts about are Nigella Seeds. Nigella seed is an herbal medicine with a long history, an ancient form of medicine from Ayurveda, Unani, Tibb, European herbal traditions and so on. In Islamic literature, Nigella is considered on the greatest forms of healing medicine. It’s herbal name is Nigella sativa, also known as Black caraway, black seed, black cumin, roman coriander, seed of blessing, Kalonji and my favourite “the cure for all disease except death”.
