Do you stop 🛑 or slow down?
Take rest periods, real rest with no other distractions? No TV, computers, phones, iPads or any other screens. Just you. We live in a world where we are constantly stimulated, which means the nervous system never gets to power down. To recover and be able to carry on it's job properly. Think of any piece of electronic equipment you own. When you leave it on or use it for too long at one time it starts to overheat. So what do you do? You turn it off, give it a chance or switch off and reboot, because we all know if you push it further once it’s shown signs of overheating it will break, burnout, go kaput. So why do we ignore the signs our body gives us when we are overwhelmed, overworked or about to burnout? I think it’s because we don’t even recognise them. So what are they?
If you are displaying 3 or more of the above symptoms you need a break, time to stop, rest and reset. You can also start by regularly introducing short rest periods to your day. So, remember take 10 minutes a day to stop, rest, reset or meditate and if you don’t have 10 minutes a day to do that, well, you need an hour!
