Being grateful is not always easy! I know. We therapists are human too😃
It's more of a case of stop trying to be perfect and start doing your best. Attitude is the main thing over the years that I have seen bring clients to where they want to be. Yes you need to eat right, be healthy, exercise but the way you look at these things makes the difference. If you see things negatively life will always be that bit harder. Some examples Negative "I can't start today because the house is still full of junk food and I'm not wasting it!!!" Positive "I'm starting today. This is what I want so no excuses. I'll give the biscuits, cakes, crisps etc to someone else if I don't want to throw them out. Whatever it takes, I'm ready!" Negative "I didn't get time to juice. It takes up too much time, I'm wasting all the pulp, I don't like waste, the ingredients are expensive." Positive "I'm going to juice everyday because: I feel better when I do, my energy is better, I sleep better, I stop craving, my skin is glowing. It takes no more time than making my breakfast. I'm not wasting the pulp, I throw out vegetable and fruit peel all the time and it's never bothered me but I can put the pulp in soups, stew, in compost etc. The fruit and vegetables are a lot cheaper than the junk food it stops me craving" Negative "I know I won't have lost weight this week!! I just know it!! I've not had any chocolate or biscuits all week, I've been so good not having all those things I wanted and I know I haven't lost anything!!!" Positive "Wow I feel great this week, I'm loving the food, I'm tasting it again, my energy is better, my sleep, woah what happened there? I feel great and I'm trying so many new things. It's not just about the weight but it makes sense that if I keep this up the weight will come off over time and I'm feeling great." Can you spot the difference? The negative attitude is always looking at what you are missing, what you tell yourself you are doing without, focusing on the things that brought you to where you are , in a place of either weight gain, I'll Heath, depression etc. The positive focuses on what you are enjoying. The benefits, the good stuff. It's focusing on the actions you need to take to get you to your goal. So just remember, no matter what it is you are doing that attitude has a huge impact on your results. So this year try to have an attitude of gratitude, a more positive outlook😃
