It’s been 2 years since my initial stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis & what a rollercoaster it has been.
For anyone who is just been diagnosed and their family my hope is that my journey brings you hope. We don’t talk enough about this from the patients perspective. It’s a scary topic we avoid, which I totally understand, but it means when you get that diagnosis your brain goes straight to its fear mode. So, my first year was definitely all fight or flight mode. It was all about survival, getting my head around it and grieving. Don’t get me wrong, when I say grieving I didn’t have myself buried, I was grieving the life I was loosing. Life became a series of decisions around what was worth the expenditure of my energy, my body had a vastly reduced resource of energy. My second year has been different. This year I realised I’ve got the surviving part down, between the medical treatments and my own herbs, juices and natural remedies, rest, counselling, reflexology & massages I am doing good. Now it time to thrive. There are still times my body gets exhausted and I am learning (always learning) to slow and listen to it. This year I have had more strength to advocate for my needs to go through this journey in a way that resonates with me. My medical treatments are: • Ribociclib • Letrozole • Zometa • Zoladex My natural remedies include: • My own herbal tincture (specific to my needs now) • Medicinal mushrooms, turmeric, slippery elm and marshmallow • Vitamin D3,E, C & multi • CBD • Aloe vera • Probiotic • Healthy diet - lots of fresh veggies • Plenty water • Juicing For me this journey is all about mindset and keeping a healthy body & mind.
