The digestion dilemma

Whether it's:
  • Heartburn
  • Indigestion
  • Hiatus Hernia
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhoea
  • Colitis
  • Crohns
  • Diverticulitis

Herbal medicines and Dietary changes can help.  Now I am not saying there are any miracle cures but you can drastically improve your symptoms.

Some simple herbs are:
  • Slippery Elm - can help with digestive issues in general - soothes inflammation, mucilaginous, prebiotic
  • Peppermint - can help with excess wind and improves digestions - do not take excessively if you feel the cold
  • Chamomile - aids digestion, relieves digestive spasms, calming - do not use if you have any problems with the oesophageal sphincter
  • Fennel - aids digestion, relive wind
  • Marshmallow - mucilaginous, aids thickening of the mucosal layer, protects the lining

Herbal medicine is both complex and simple at the same time, you should always seek professional advice when taking any herbs.

Sugar is the big debate being thrashed about at the moment. 

Yes processed sugar is not good for you, it is linked to inflammation, arthritis, gout, skin issues, psoriasis, eczema, candida, diverticulitis, and now Cancer.  

Sugar is not your friend, at least not processed sugar.

I've been there, craving sugar like I would kill if I didn't get it, having 1 piece of chocolate and not being able to stop till all the chocolates were gone.  Craving sugar so much that the only thing that would shut up that annoying voice in my head telling me to get sugar, was to get the flaming sugar.  Then I would feel like I had no self control and was weak which would lead to more sugar.  

The thing is I wasn't weak, I was a strong individual, able to do whatever I set my mind to, so why could I not control what I put into my mouth?  I wanted to, I felt bad when I didn't.

It wasn't until I got really ill that I finally got on top of my sugar issues.  I got so ill that I had to look at ways of balancing my body completely.  It was when I did that, that my cravings just stopped.  No really they just stopped, I no longer crave sugar, i can eat a bit and stop, it's great.  

The first thing is to realise not all sugars are evil.

Processed white sugar is not good
Processed sugary foods such as cakes, biscuits, breads, sweets etc are not good
Fizzy drinks are not good

on the other hand:
fruit
vegetables
natural grains
honey
natural foods
they all can provide sugar and sweetness but they also provide vitamins and minerals much needed by the body.

One thing I have come to realise is that if you feed the body what it needs - vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, protein, fats and carbohydrates and water.  Well if you feed it all of this, the cravings stops, simply because the body has what it needs to function.

So stop being scared of food, Eat natural, eat healthy, juice daily, drink water.

Your body is amazing, it will work better for you than you ever thought was possible if you simply feed it what it needs.

Remember the saying your body is a temple?
